Saints 50th Anniversary approaching

Saints player wins Princess of the Court.

Basketball Victoria today announced Ballarat's Nicole Belsar as 'Princess of the Court' for the first fortnight in June 2007. Nicole is a very club orientated young girl and is always willing to
help out in any way she can, whether it be coaching, training or just filling in for senior teams when they are short of players.

Nicole started playing basketball 8 years ago because she wanted to play a fast active game,
her brother Craig also plays. She plays for the Ballarat Basketball Association and also the Saints Basketball Club at the WIN Minerdome.

Nicole always tries to help out her team mates and always tries to pass the ball around, she always does what is best for the team. Nicole's hero's are Lauren Jackson and Andrea McMahon.

"I nominated Nicole for the 'Princess of the Court' award because she is a great leader and is normally the court captain" said Maureen Hunt, a Basketball Manager of Ballarat Basketball Association." Nicole is a very passionate player and very unselfish, she helps out her team
and her club whenever she can" added Maureen.

The princess of the court is an initiative of Basketball Victoria's Women in Basketball program. Supported by the State Government, the program aims to increase female participation in all aspects of the sport of basketball.

Basketball Victoria selects 'Princess of the Court' winners based not just on performance, but also other qualities which make them an asset to the sport.

"Congratulations to Nicole on winning the 'Princess of the Court award for the first fortnight in June. We wish her all the best for her future in the sport of basketball," said Wayne Bird, Chief Executive Officer or Basketball Victoria.

Nicole will be presented with a 12 Panel Molten GF6 Basketball and a certificate.
